Joyful Poetry
I always work from a place of joy and in this workshops encourage participants to do the same, especially when dealing with the kinds of heavy subject matter than often comes up with writing from the heart. I delve into playful ways of choosing words and metaphor to communicate heartfelt truths in vibrant and exciting ways.
Shakespeare was a spoken word artist
At Drama school I had an incredible teacher of Shakespeare that taught me all the rules embedded in Shakespeare's verse. In his day the actors didn't have time to rehearse so they knew what to look out for in the text. Germanic language being more gutteral and emotional, latin words meaning higher class and more elegant. The rhythm and metre of each line giving hints about how fast or slow to speak and what emotions the character might be going through. In this workshop I unpack the mysteries of Shakespeare's hidden rules that he smuggled into his texts and give participants the chance to write their own poetry using these techniques to unlock new possibilities in their own writing and performance work.
Lecoq Masterclass
In this half day or full day masterclass I lead the group in ensemble storytelling, exploring elements of mime, clowning and the fundamentals of Lecoq's approach to space as a key to unlocking new ways of inhabiting characters and creating powerful moments of storytelling.
Singing in 4 part harmony
As a skilled barbershop singer Edalia will teach you the basics of singing in 4 part harmonies using a bunch of simple vocal exercise and short snippets of song with juicy harmonies full of crunch.
Embodied words
A dance poetry workshop, improvising poetry, recording it and then improvising dance to go with it. Exploring the connection between our words, bodies and emotions, and the invigorating, cathartic experience of combining them through performance and play.
Animation taster session (Ipads included)
Animation has never been easier or more accessible to learn. All you need is an tablet and your imagination. We supply the tablets (or feel free to bring your own) and the imagination is whatever your heart might dream. In this hands-on workshop participants create simple animations, learning the fundamentals with fun exercises in procreate, toonsquid, or the animation app of their choice. Suitable for a range of experience levels and ages from complete beginner to advanced.
